The Friends of Wellholme Park started out by litter picking, in September 2023. This activity remains as our core activity.
While working in the park, we realised that we could do more to help maintain the park. We also came up with ideas to improve the park. We started discussion with Calderdale Council, and subesquently presented a plan for our work. Since then the Friends have become a formally constituted charity. We aim to enhance the care and condition of the park and woodland.
We believe that Wellholme Park should be a rewarding resource for the community, a resource that we all can take pride in. We continue to develop our plans for park improvements. Keep checking this site and our social media pages for announcements.
Our Members and Volunteers are essential to our work. Please visit our Join us page for more details.
The Friends of Wellholme Park rely on fundraising and donations, to allow us to deliver our work. If you wish to support our work, a donation link can be found at the bottom of the page.
The Future.
There are many organisations with an interest in Wellholme Park. Calderdale Council is the owner of, and has overall responsibility for the park. The Environment Agency is delivering a flood alleviation project that is due for completion in Spring 2026. Another group monitors the health of the Beck and the wildlife in it. The Friends of Wellholme Park build and maintain relationships with these groups, as we work to improve the park.
The most important group, is our local community. It's important that our work delivers what the community wants. Details of our public consultations are publicised on our social media channels. Or, come and talk to us when we're in the park.
We are always developing and refining our plans. They will be found on this website when we are able to provide them.
